Thank You from Christ the King
On behalf of the members of Christ the King St. Vincent de Paul Society, we would like to extend our sincerest thanks for the tremendous food drive you held on Yom Kippur. It was the largest food drive that our team has ever had, totaling 375 bags full of food. Working with your Senior Youth Group was a wonderful experience for our members and Etz Chaim should be very proud of the enthusiasm and committment they made in making this High Holiday Food Drive so successful. Many thanks to Barb Svarz, Stephanie Svarz and Laura Pietrzak for their help and assistance. We look forward to working with you again in the future.

Message from Rabbi Bob
This December, Rabbi Bob along with other Rabbis will be leading Chalutzim for Adults at OSRUI, a Hebrew immersion program. There have been a lot of requests for a program like this for adults, and has been a big success in past years. Now is your chance to be a part of it.

Interfaith Program at Etz Chaim
At Etz Chaim on Sunday November 9 beginning at 2:00 PM Imam Mubasher Ahmad of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Rev Tom Potenza of the First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn and Rabbi Steven Bob will join together for an interfaith discussion of prayer. Dr. Paul Parker, Chair of the Religious Studies Department at Elmhurst College, will serve as moderator for the conversation.

We will explore the differences and similarities in how these three religious communities approach and understand prayer. This program is part of an ongoing series of public conversations between these three religious leaders. This is the first time Etz Chaim has hosted the program.

The program will also provide an opportunity for interaction between the members of the Mosque, the church and our synagogue.
Interfaith Thanksgiving Service- November 24th
thanksgiving The DuPage Interfaith Resource Network Thanksgiving Service will be held on Monday, November 24th at 7:30 PM in the beautiful sanctuary of St. Procopius Abbey at the corner of Maple and College in Lisle. The service features broad participation from a wide range of religions including: Protestants, Buddhists, Catholics, Jews, Moslems, Zoroastrians, Sikhs, and B'hai. We hear the prayers of other religions, sung and chanted. The service is a wonderful way to begin the week of Thanksgiving. The warmth and diversity of the worshipping congregation expresses the promise of America. We respect our differences and appreciate that which binds us together. We proclaim a common message of thanks with our words and melodies of prayer.

Enroll Your Child in SKIP Now

Wanted: College Student Addresses
Each year, the Youth Committee collects college student snail mail addresses and email addresses. Why? Because we want to keep our college students connected to the Etz Chaim community. How? We send them the E-Bulletin, "goodie" boxes at festive times of the year, and list them in the Kesher (URJ) directory of Jewish college students.

We need both regular mailing addresses and email addresses of freshmen as well as returning college students. Addresses are not saved from school year to school year, so we need addresses even if you sent them in past years. Please send address information to the synagogue office ASAP by email at  or contact Susan Hurwitz or Mike Marion in the office at (630) 627-3912.
