Welcome to the Congregation Etz Chaim Online Card Catalog information page.     Search for a book

A new feature of the recent library software upgrade is an Online Card Catalog Search. In addition to using the new computers (featuring Office, Davka and Internet accessiblility) in the Jeremy Bruder Memorial Library, you are now able to search the Online Card Catalog from the comfort of your home or anywhere you have an internet connection.

Search by Title, Author or Subject, and then see the results for your requested criteria. The results are listed ten on a page. In the displayed results, you will see Title, Author, Category, Subject, Dewey, ISBN, Publisher and Media Type. This information will be updated/completed as the library works through the data conversion process.

When entering criteria in the Title, Author or Subject fields, you can be vague and get any item that lists that word in the field you entered or you can check the box to the right of the field to search for an exact match. The exact match would be used if you are looking for a specific title.

The card catalog is password protected. You can get a password from a volunteer at the library desk or email the office for your password. You may request a book directly from the Online Search, but please remember that the library has only minimal staffing during certain times of the year. The items you request may not always be ready or currently available when you arrive. The volunteers appreciate your patience as this online process is worked through.

You will then click on "Congregation Etz Chaim Library" If you click "About" you will just return to the instruction page.

You can search by Title, Author or Subject.

If you check the box on the right, it will only return results with that "exact" match. If you leave the box unchecked, the search will give you a much broader match.

Once you have filled in the
field(s), click "Search"

You will be given a total number of book matches at the top of the page. Ten titles are displayed per page and you can move through the pages by clicking "Next" or "Prev".

If your search results are not what you expected, click "Search" at the top of the page to return to the search page and try again.

If you wish to request a book, just check the box in the upper left corner next to the Title in the detailed results. (This must be done on the page where the book is displayed.) Fill in the information (Name, Phone #, Email address, and any comments) on the request form. (Three books is the maximum that may be requested at a time.) Then click "Request to borrow checked item(s)".

You will receive a confirmation on the items you requested. Please remember that the library has only minimal staffing during certain times of the year. The items you request may not always be ready or currently available when you arrive. The volunteers appreciate your patience as this online process is worked through.
